What Are Important Questions for My Dentist During a Dental Implant Consultation?

Researching a topic is a great way to learn about it. Talking to an expert on the matter is even better. How about doing both – especially when it’s about something as important and beneficial as dental implants? Dental implants are the best option for tooth replacement, hands down. If you want to learn more, schedule a dental implant consultation.

In the meantime, read on to learn some questions for your implant dentist in Raleigh that could yield plenty of valuable information.

What Costs Are Involved and What Are My Payment Options?

Most insurance companies will cover the exams and X-rays ahead of the procedure. The final price will include the cost of the implant placement as well as the creation and installation of the dental crown. You should ask for an exact breakdown of the cost. Unless you can afford to pay in cash, be sure to ask about financing or a payment plan.

Do You Complete the Entire Treatment at This Location?

Some dentists will perform the complete implant procedure, while others will only attach the crown. So, you’ll want to know if an oral surgeon will be involved or if you’ll see the same dentist throughout your treatment.

What Type of Experience Do You Have with Dental Implants?

It makes a lot of sense to ask a dentist about their experience regarding a major procedure you are considering, both in terms of their education and clinical familiarity. It stands to reason that the more often they perform a procedure, the greater the likelihood it will go smoothly.

What Do I Need to Get Dental Implants?

The dentist may tell you that any other oral health problems will need to be addressed first. They will expect you to have generally healthy teeth and gums heading into a surgical procedure. Another factor they will address is bone density. An X-ray will probably be done to determine if your bone is dense enough for implant placement.

What Do I Need to Be Aware of Regarding My Recovery?

The dentist may recommend that you have the procedure done late in the week so you can recover over the weekend while your mouth is sore. They’ll suggest you stock up on items like ice packs, ibuprofen, and soft foods. You will usually be provided a temporary restoration to cover the time between your metal implant being placed and your new tooth getting attached.

How Do the Results Compare to Getting a Traditional Dental Bridge or Dentures?

It’s best to know about all your tooth replacement options before deciding on implants. Scientifically, an implant is the most secure option because it utilizes the strength of your jawbone.

Dental implants in Raleigh might be exactly what the doctor – or dentist – ordered to turn your oral health around. Nothing comes closer to the look and functionality of your natural teeth. Since getting them requires a surgical procedure, it’s crucial that you are fully informed about the process. Thinking about the points in this post can help you prepare for that question-and-answer session.

I've been coming to this practice for years now since moving to the Raleigh area. The office is always clean and organized and the staff have always been friendly and communicative. Also, the TV's mounted to the ceiling are a nice touch! I've been seeing Dr. Laster for several years before our insurance changed causing me to change to Dr. Rensch. Both are so easy to talk to and always made me feel at ease.

From beginning to end 5/5! I thought I was experiencing a dental 911. I submitted an inquiry at 11:30pm and by 8am the next morning, Deidra (front office staff) was already leaving me a message. She was so sweet and patient at 8am lol. After our initial conversation, I informed all follow up dentists “I found my dentist office” but thank you so much! Today I was welcomed with the same energy from Diedre to Britany then finally Dr.Wrench. The music playing throughout the office was fantastic; ie music selection and volume. The TV’s on the ceiling and wall made my procedure so painless and enjoyable! I watched an entire Christmas movie lol! Dr. Wrench (apologies for spelling) made my teeth absolutely perfect! I left telling my friends and family I have a million dollar smile! 😊 I can tell he wanted them perfect and he did! Thank you all so much for being amazing! Sincerely, Your next patient.

Dr. Laster and Dr. Rensch go above and beyond for their patients. I have seen both for various treatments and I always feel comfortable and heard. They take time to listen and to talk with you. They explain your options and work with you to develop the best plan for your care. They are always upbeat and positive and you can tell they truly love what they do. The front desk staff is exceptional as well. Deidre is so caring and very sweet. She’s efficient, understanding and conscientious of your time. I highly recommend.

Connections Dentistry was great! The staff is so friendly and truly cares about their patients. My appointment was quick, and honestly the best dental experience I’ve had. They are great about offering helpful solutions without making you feel like you are being reprimanded… which was the reason I was putting off the dentist. 100% recommend!
