How to Find an Emergency Dentist ASAP

Young woman at dentist for a dental emergencyNo one ever expects to need an emergency dentist, but it’s not an uncommon situation. 1 in 6 Americans will experience a dental emergency this year. Whether you’ve had a tooth knocked out, something is caught in your teeth, or you lost a crown, time is of the utmost importance. Here’s how to find an emergency dentist in a hurry.

Common Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies can take many forms. Not all result from accidents or injuries. Many are caused by untreated dental problems, like tooth decay. Here are just a few of the most common oral health emergencies that need immediate care from a dentist:

  • Dislodged or knocked-out tooth
  • A chipped or fractured tooth
  • Toothache
  • Object caught in teeth
  • Jaw pain
  • Lost filling or crown

Hospital ER VS Emergency Dentist

Instinct might tell you to head to the closest hospital if you have a dental emergency, but that’s rarely the best idea. Although hospitals can treat life-threatening issues, they aren’t equipped for oral health needs. At most, they can prescribe pain relievers and antibiotics, but they can’t address the underlying problem.

Unless you have a medical emergency, it’s better to contact a dentist. They’ll get you into the office quickly and address any pain. Your dentist will examine your mouth to create a personalized treatment plan. Your dental team will explain what you can expect on the road ahead.

How to Find an Emergency Dentist

If you have a dental emergency, don’t panic! Here’s how to find a dentist quickly:

  1. Contact Your Family Dentist: Your family dentist may offer emergency services. They might be able to fit you into their schedule.
  2. Ask Friends and Family: Ask friends and loved ones for recommendations for dentists in your community.
  3. Research Dentists Online: Look for dentists online. Read their biography to learn more about their services. Review any online reviews or testimonials to understand the quality of care you can expect.

A dental emergency will not go away with no treatment. Don’t wait for a small issue to turn into a big problem. Contact a dentist right away.

I've been coming to this practice for years now since moving to the Raleigh area. The office is always clean and organized and the staff have always been friendly and communicative. Also, the TV's mounted to the ceiling are a nice touch! I've been seeing Dr. Laster for several years before our insurance changed causing me to change to Dr. Rensch. Both are so easy to talk to and always made me feel at ease.

From beginning to end 5/5! I thought I was experiencing a dental 911. I submitted an inquiry at 11:30pm and by 8am the next morning, Deidra (front office staff) was already leaving me a message. She was so sweet and patient at 8am lol. After our initial conversation, I informed all follow up dentists “I found my dentist office” but thank you so much! Today I was welcomed with the same energy from Diedre to Britany then finally Dr.Wrench. The music playing throughout the office was fantastic; ie music selection and volume. The TV’s on the ceiling and wall made my procedure so painless and enjoyable! I watched an entire Christmas movie lol! Dr. Wrench (apologies for spelling) made my teeth absolutely perfect! I left telling my friends and family I have a million dollar smile! 😊 I can tell he wanted them perfect and he did! Thank you all so much for being amazing! Sincerely, Your next patient.

Dr. Laster and Dr. Rensch go above and beyond for their patients. I have seen both for various treatments and I always feel comfortable and heard. They take time to listen and to talk with you. They explain your options and work with you to develop the best plan for your care. They are always upbeat and positive and you can tell they truly love what they do. The front desk staff is exceptional as well. Deidre is so caring and very sweet. She’s efficient, understanding and conscientious of your time. I highly recommend.

Connections Dentistry was great! The staff is so friendly and truly cares about their patients. My appointment was quick, and honestly the best dental experience I’ve had. They are great about offering helpful solutions without making you feel like you are being reprimanded… which was the reason I was putting off the dentist. 100% recommend!
