Questions You Should Be Asking Your Dentist

Patient asking dentist questions

Most of the time when you go to your regular cleaning and checkup, it’s your dentist that’s asking all the questions and you that’s giving the answers. Yet, you only see the dentist every six months, so shouldn’t you be making the most out of your visit? There is a huge educational aspect to a regular dental appointment that many people don’t take advantage of. Continue reading to see what different questions you should be asking your dentist during your next visit.

What Can I Do to Improve My Oral Health?

You know that regular brushing, flossing, and seeing your dentist for six-month checkups can do a lot for your smile. But there is always something that you could be improving on to maintain good oral health. Ask you dentist about what changes you should be making or areas that you should be focusing on. Maybe you aren’t flossing enough. Perhaps you are missing different areas when you brush. You could be using the wrong dental tools. Take this time to discuss improvements you could be making.

Am I At Risk for Dental Problems in the Future?

Even though dental hygiene is crucial to avoid dental issues, heredity and lifestyle habits also play a big role in whether or not you are likely to develop oral health problems. You should know what you need to look out for in the future. For instance, smoking increases your risk of developing periodontal disease. By knowing this, you can ask your dentist the steps you can take to lower your chances of gum disease in the future.

What Shouldn’t I Be Eating?

What you put into your body determines a lot about your overall wellbeing and your oral health. Some foods are great for your smile while other should be put aside for occasions. Ask your dentist about what you should be adding into your diet as well and what you could probably cut back on.

How Do I Improve the Appearance of My Smile?

Even though a big part of dental care is making sure that your teeth and gums are healthy, your dentist also wants you to feel confident. They want to help you better your smile in every way possible and that includes cosmetically. If you have concerns over small chips, cracks, misalignment issues, or discoloration, your dentist will be able to explain to you what your options are so you can work towards getting the smile you’ve always wanted.

What Financial Options Do I Have?

No one wants to come out of their appointment with a huge bill waiting for them. Ask your dentist about the different financing options that are available. Check to see if they accept your dental insurance. If you aren’t insured, see what other options they have available. Getting essential dental care shouldn’t mean that you need to drain your bank account.

At your next dental cleaning, throw some of these questions to your dentist. Make the most out of your visit by learning everything you need to know about your smile!

I've been coming to this practice for years now since moving to the Raleigh area. The office is always clean and organized and the staff have always been friendly and communicative. Also, the TV's mounted to the ceiling are a nice touch! I've been seeing Dr. Laster for several years before our insurance changed causing me to change to Dr. Rensch. Both are so easy to talk to and always made me feel at ease.

From beginning to end 5/5! I thought I was experiencing a dental 911. I submitted an inquiry at 11:30pm and by 8am the next morning, Deidra (front office staff) was already leaving me a message. She was so sweet and patient at 8am lol. After our initial conversation, I informed all follow up dentists “I found my dentist office” but thank you so much! Today I was welcomed with the same energy from Diedre to Britany then finally Dr.Wrench. The music playing throughout the office was fantastic; ie music selection and volume. The TV’s on the ceiling and wall made my procedure so painless and enjoyable! I watched an entire Christmas movie lol! Dr. Wrench (apologies for spelling) made my teeth absolutely perfect! I left telling my friends and family I have a million dollar smile! 😊 I can tell he wanted them perfect and he did! Thank you all so much for being amazing! Sincerely, Your next patient.

Dr. Laster and Dr. Rensch go above and beyond for their patients. I have seen both for various treatments and I always feel comfortable and heard. They take time to listen and to talk with you. They explain your options and work with you to develop the best plan for your care. They are always upbeat and positive and you can tell they truly love what they do. The front desk staff is exceptional as well. Deidre is so caring and very sweet. She’s efficient, understanding and conscientious of your time. I highly recommend.

Connections Dentistry was great! The staff is so friendly and truly cares about their patients. My appointment was quick, and honestly the best dental experience I’ve had. They are great about offering helpful solutions without making you feel like you are being reprimanded… which was the reason I was putting off the dentist. 100% recommend!
